Special Needs Services

JFS offers innovative, inclusive services to clients of all ages with special needs, including:

Case Management

The JFS Special Needs Case Manager provides assessment, evaluation, and monitoring of your family member with special needs to ensure maximum safety, inclusion, and independence. If needed, adult guardianship services are available through the JFS Personal Affairs Management program.

Socialization

Currently, JFS runs two social groups for Jewish developmentally disabled adults. The Chaverim and Simcha groups provide unique socialization for these adults, and for some, it provides the only interaction they have with Judaism or the Jewish community!

Group members meet monthly for social events and occasionally, Jewish themed events.

These events are made possible through the generous support of the following JFS endowment funds:

• Ralph and Mollie Bartel Fund for Services to the Developmentally Disabled
• Janis Lynn Kaplan Memorial Fund for Services to the Developmentally Disabled
• The Socialization (SIMCHA) Group Fund

• Dianne Epplein & John Patton Fund for Children with Special Needs

In addition, we are always accepting in-kind donations of funds, tickets, event sponsors, and inclusion with Jewish community events or activities. We welcome volunteers to transport disabled clients and attend social group events to interact with and assist our clients.

Yachad Special Needs Summer Camp at the Simon Family JCC

Coordination with the Simon Family JCC’s Day Camp program for children with special needs is facilitated by JFS staff members who are active consultants/participants in this effort to mainstream children with special needs into routine day camp activities.
