Food Assistance

In Virginia, there are more than 170,000 families living below the poverty level. Many of these families are unable to obtain nutritious food. To combat this growing problem, JFS has partnered with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia to operate a Community Food Pantry and the Milk & Honey Food Program.

JFS also receives food from many generous donors throughout our community. If your family or organization is interested in a food drive or wants to bring food or other household supplies to support our pantry. Please feel free to drop off non-perishable foods and new household supplies to the bin in front of the JCC entrance. 5000 Corporate Woods Drive. Emergency food distribution is available. For more information call 757-459-4640.

JFS PROVIDES FOOD ASSISTANCE TO ALL LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED

Community Food Pantry

The Community Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
The Community Food Pantry and Milk & Honey Food Assistance Program are located at 5000 Corporate Woods Drive in Virginia Beach.

Milk & Honey Food Program

Annually, the Milk & Honey Food Assistance program keeps food on the tables of approximately 75 local households, including those with special needs and families who often have to choose between purchasing medication, paying bills, and buying food.

The Milk & Honey Food program allows current agency clients the opportunity to receive foods during set, pre-scheduled dates and times. Emergency food assistance is also available for those in need. This program is able to provide some kosher items and specializes in the specific dietary/religious desires of those families who follow kosher food guidelines.

Home Delivery Meals Program

In 1983, JFS received a grant from Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia to help underwrite the Home Delivery Meals Program. Since that time, JFS has provided thousands of meals to individuals who otherwise might not have access to nutritious foods. JFS is the only kosher Home Delivery Meals Program in our community!

The Home Delivery Meals Program is available to home-bound adults aged 60 or over who are unable to grocery shop or prepare meals for themselves. This program has remained subsidized through a partnership with Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, as well as numerous private donors. This program is available for residents of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, regardless of race, religion, or economic status. Eligibility for the program is defined by the Title III and IV of the Older Americans Act.

The Home Delivery Meals Program is also available for those who can self-pay and do not qualify for a financial subsidy.

To enroll in this program, a Senior Advisor will be in contact with you to complete a full assessment.
